
Shirlene Green Newball is a multifaceted journalist, content writer, documentary producer, consultant, feminist, and activist. She has extensive experience in communications across non-profit organizations. She also has experience in freelance work. She brings a unique blend of expertise and passion to every project she undertakes.
In the realm of documentary filmmaking, she has collaborated with esteemed broadcast companies. These include YLE and Estonian Public Broadcast, among others. One of her notable works, Lih Wina- the One-way, was created in collaboration with fellow filmmakers. It earned the Best Short Documentary award at the Central American Film Festival ICARO (2014). The film received a Jury Mention at T-Film Ostrava in the Czech Republic.
Proudly carrying the heritage of her Afro and Indigenous roots, Shirlene’s identity and work are deeply intertwined. As she powerfully states: “My skin speaks—don’t wash away its colour.” Her voice resonates with a commitment to storytelling that amplifies underrepresented perspectives and inspires meaningful change.
